What is an OF System?
An OF (open frame) system is just as it sounds. These are an entire off grid solar system build into a free-standing steel frame.
The system holds the inverters, batteries, switchboard and safety controls in the one unit.
Systems are generally build into the same internal frame from our SIAB Premium systems but larger system will have a custom frame built to match the specific system requirements.
Open frame systems have been specifically designed to be a "supply only" system.
This combines the benefit of our skilled team building the off grid system you need, but lowering the cost by letting you find your own installer.
How do I get an OFSystem?
The proces is simple:
1. Fill out an enquiry form
2. Speak with our team via a phone call
3. Complete a design consultation call
4.We will build, test and program your system
5. We send the completed system out to you
Unless you specifically request it, we do not include solar panels, solar framing system, BoS equipment or installation as part of an OF system.
There are two main reasons that we do not normally supply the above mentioned equipment with our OF systems.
Firstly, it is hard to get installers who want to install a system if they can not provide at least some of the equipment so that they can make some margin on the equipment. Second, transporting solar panels with large freight companies around the country often leads to broken panels. Having your installer pick them up for their favorite supplier eliminates this risk.

When it comes to inverters, you have a range of options. Part of the design consultation will be to work with you to find the best system option and inverter capacity to match your needs.

The size of your solar array needs to be able to provide the amount of energy you required on average in both summer and winter, but don't worry, we will design this during your call with our team.

Battery Capacity
When it comes to your battery system, choosing enough storage for your needs is another part of the design process that we will work throuh with you.
As a rule, you should have around the same volume of battery storage as a typical days power usage. This ensures that you have plenty to get through the nights.
